Local Breweries in Marin: Sip & Stroll in San Rafael

Casual and fun environments with local top quality brews and food — we like where this is headed! Consider this the first in a number of posts about local breweries and taprooms in Marin. We’re starting in San Rafael, located about 10 minutes from Acqua Hotel and 15-ish from Waters Edge Hotel and Mill Valley Inn.

With four destinations within less than a mile on 4th Street in San Rafael, it’s a good immersion into the suds an easy stroll from one place to the next (map here). Plan your trip around lunch or dinner and order a bite and a beer for a roving meal.

Getting to and from San Rafael: Uber and Lyft drivers are abundant in Marin, so we suggest leaving your car behind when you head out to 4th Street.

Iron Springs Public House. Live music on Thursdays, full menu all day, lovely staff.

Stateroom Brewery. Alllll the food is good super lively crowd, great bartenders. (That’s their pizza beer combo in the photo up top.)

Bonus Time! Not on 4th street, but…if you feel like a tiny detour at this point, head down B Street to Libation Tap Room & Bottle Shop. A modern taproom with a fun atmosphere, 20 rotating taps and a fridge full of interesting beers and ciders to consume on site. We can vouch for the Blueberry Brunch Bonanza!

Tam Commons Taproom & Kitchen. Warm and modern, with a full menu. Try the Bowls!

Pond Farm Brewing Company. Indoor or outdoor seating. They’re getting their kitchen up and running, so for now they offer daily pop-ups or you can bring in or order food to be brought in.
