Best Time to Visit Dawn Falls
One of the best times to hike the Dawn Falls Trail is early in the morning when the forest comes alive with the sounds of birds chirping and the rush of water from the nearby creek. This time of year the air is crisp and cool, and the light is soft and golden, creating a magical atmosphere that is perfect for a peaceful hike.
Where to Park to Visit Dawn Falls
Parking at the trailhead is limited, do yourself a favor and don’t attempt it. There’s room for only 4 cars and it’s not easy to turn around. Find a spot in the neighborhood near the intersection of Magnolia and Madrone in the neighborhood and walk to the trailhead. Map here. Or park anywhere downtown and have lunch in town when you complete your hike.
If you park right at that intersection, this adds about a mile to the hike, most of it flat. Worth it! You will see homes of all types built around the Redwoods — literally.
