Marin County Travel Guide: Ideas Your Return Visit
Are you ready to visit Marin again? We understand! This magical spot has a way of calling you back to her coastline, Redwoods, beaches, trails, and views. Maybe you’ve already visited Muir Woods, spotted a whale or two at the Point Reyes Lighthouse, wandered around Sausalito, seen the views from the Marin Headlands, and ferried out to Angel Island.
(And hopefully stayed at one of our Marin Hotels during your visit!)
So what’s next? Here are 5 ideas for your next visit to Marin County. Enjoy!
Visit Bolinas in West Marin
Marin County is known for it’s picturesque towns, Bolinas being one of them. If you can find it! Click on that link above to get the details on how to find the town and where to park once you’re there. Though we do have to say sometimes that link doesn’t work, which is right in line with the narrative that Bolinas does not want to be found! If that happens, set your GPS to Bolinas, and keep your eyes peeled for the turn-off. Plan to walk the beach, have lunch at the Coast Cafe, explore the shops, and pop into the Bolinas Museum. Feeling adventurous? Book a surf lesson with 2 Mile Surf Shop.
Expore China Camp State Park
Situated on the shores of the San Pablo Bay, China Camp State Park offers miles of trails and panoramic views as you would expect from a State Park in Marin County. What makes this one unique are the remnants of a Chinese fishing village. It’s lots of fun to explore and a great spot for photos. Maybe plan your visit around the Full Moon Hike, which should be amazing.
Hike Abbotts Lagoon
Head out to the Point Reyes National Seashore to the Abbotts Lagoon Trailhead. From there you can walk all the way out to the Ocean, and you will likely have most of 11 Mile Beach to yourself. Read more about Abbotts Lagoon, which also happens to be one of our fave flat hikes.
Tour Point Bonita Lighthouse
This special spot is open Sundays and Mondays 12:30-3:30 (with night tours coming soon!), so plan accordingly. Your reward is walking over the wild coastline on a suspension bridge leading to the lighthouse. Hang on and have your camera ready!
Walk The Sausalito Floating Homes
Away from the main streets of Sausalito lies a floating home community with an only-in-Marin vibe. Here’s a guide to help you plan your visit to the Floating Homes of Sausalito. Our #1 one tip for a successful visit is to wander quietly, as you’ll be walking amongst people’s homes while you enjoy the architecture and the views.
See you out there!
