Marin County Travel Guide: Live Music in Marin Summer 2023
As the summer sun blankets the picturesque landscapes of Marin County, the vibrant local music scene comes alive, captivating both residents and our Marin Hotels visitors alike. From intimate outdoor acoustic sessions in local parks to a music festival on iconic Mt. Tam, here are some of our favorites:
Sound Summit Music Festival on Mt. Tam
We’re putting this one at the top of the post because over the past couple of years, this festival has become super popular. In Marin County, nothing is more iconic that Mt. Tamalpais. To spend the day at a picturesque spot enjoying a fantastic line-up of bands is an opportunity not to be missed.
The date for this year’s concert is September 9, 2023 from 11am-7pm. Get your tickets here.
Marin County Small and Local Music Venues
In Mill Valley, we like The Junction Beer Garden and Bottleshop. Order of some amazing pizza and enjoy the music in the vast outdoor space. They offer free music every Sunday afternoon and Tuesday evenings, plus a bunch of other shows on on the calendar. Check out the summer 2023 lineup here.
In Fairfax Mac’s at 19 Broadway has something happening nearly every night of the week — including Open Mic Night and Karaoke Night — in their speakeasy style cocktail lounge. Also in Fairfax, check out super casual Way Station for beer, bbq, a chill crowd, and always great musicians. Here’s their summer 2023 calendar, with music Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and some Thursday and Friday evenings.
In San Rafael, Pond Farm Brewing has music most Saturday afternoons along with fresh beer and tasty food. A fun local crowd completes the scene. Here’s the July 2023 calendar.
Marin Live Music in the Neighborhoods
Lots of small towns in Marin means lots of town music events. We like Corte Madera’s Summer Concerts on Sundays and San Anselmo Live on the Avenue, with strolling, dining, shopping, and live music in the heart of town on Fridays and Saturdays through October.
The Corte Madera concerts take place on a small green with a picturesque gazebo and a take-away pizza spot near the green (Stefano’s). Most people walk to the green from the neighborhood so you’ll be immersed with the locals.
San Anselmo commits both weekend nights to shutting down their main street and providing entertainment and a fun atmosphere of strolling and mingling with the locals. Check out their summer 2023 calendar here.
See you out there!
